Quranic Verse
Arabicَأَفَلَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَى الَإِبْلِ كَيْفَ خُلِقَتْ وَإِلَى السَّمَاءِ كَيْفَ رُفِعَتْ
Translation
English“Do they not look at the camels—how they are created? And at the sky—how it is raised?” (Surah Al-Ghashiyah 88:17-18)
Introduction
The Quran asks us to think about two amazing things: camels and the sky. These verses remind us to look at nature carefully. Today, science helps us understand why these creations are so special.
Scientific Validation
1. The Amazing Camel
Camels are perfectly made for the desert:
- Water Storage: They can drink 40 gallons (150 liters) of water in 10 minutes and survive without water for weeks.
- Temperature Control: Their thick fur keeps them cool in the day and warm at night.
- Special Feet: Wide, padded feet help them walk on sand without sinking.
- Eyelids & Nose: They can close their nostrils and have three eyelids to protect against sandstorms.
2. The Sky and Its Wonders
The Quran asks us to think about how the sky is "raised":
- Atmosphere: Earth’s air layer protects us from harmful space rays and meteors.
- Gravity & Space: The sky isn’t just empty—it’s held by invisible forces (gravity) that keep planets in place.
- Expanding Universe: Science shows the universe is growing, just as the Quran describes elsewhere (Surah Adh-Dhariyat 51:47).
Reflection
Why does the Quran point to these two things?
1. Camels show perfect design for survival in harsh places.
2. The Sky shows balance and protection for life on Earth.
Both remind us that nothing in nature is random—there is wisdom behind creation.
Conclusion
Science continues to uncover the miracles in camels and the sky. The Quran’s invitation to "look and think" is a call to explore, learn, and appreciate the Creator’s wisdom.
